Landing the Job: From Graduation to Concentrix

After completing my degree, I was on the hunt for fresher jobs in Bangalore. As the hub of technology and service-based companies in India, Bangalore in my opinion, is the ideal city for new graduates to start their careers in the service sector. During my job search, I landed on the Concentrix Career page which showed me various jobs like voice process jobs and customer support jobs in Bangalore. After going through the criteria, I applied on their portal and the process began.

The interview process was detailed and streamlined. Concentrix seemed to value potential and attitude as much as academic qualifications, which was encouraging for a fresher like me. After clearing multiple rounds, including aptitude tests and interviews, I was offered a position as a customer support executive in their voice process department.

Onboarding Experience

My journey at Concentrix began with an informative onboarding program. Concentrix is committed to providing its new joinees with a comprehensive orientation, which helps them in gaining a deeper understanding of the company and its processes. As a fresher in the voice process department, the orientation turned out to be very helpful in clearly understanding what is expected out of my role and how to meet the said expectations.

The onboarding covered various topics:

  1. Company culture and values
  2. Customer service principles
  3. Voice and accent training
  4. Product knowledge of the specific clients we would be representing
  5. Soft skills development
  6. Technical training for the systems and tools we would be using

These training sessions were a crucial first step in building my confidence and preparing me to excel in my role. They equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to establish myself as a proficient voice support professional within the company.

The First Few Months: Challenges and Growth

Starting your first job is like walking through unfamiliar terrain. Every day comes with new and unanticipated challenges. The process of navigating your way to reach your end goals ultimately results in an unprecedented amount of growth and learning.

During the initial months of my voice process job at Concentrix, I experienced my fair share of challenges:

  • Adapting to working in shifts: Voice process jobs often involve working in shifts to provide 24/7 customer support. Adjusting my body clock to a night shift was initially difficult but became manageable with time.
  • Handling difficult customers: No amount of training fully prepares you for your first unsatisfied customer. Learning to remain calm and professional in these situations was a crucial skill I developed.
  • Meeting performance metrics: Concentrix, like most BPOs, has specific key performance indicators (KPIs) that employees are required to meet. Balancing quality with efficiency was a constant learning process.
  • Continuous learning: There were frequent upgrades in the products of the companies I provided customer support for. Keeping up with these updates required consistent effort.

Despite the challenges, I found numerous growth opportunities:

  • Communication skills: My communication skills improved dramatically. I learned to articulate complex ideas simply, a skill valuable in any career.
  • Emotional intelligence: Interacting with customers from various backgrounds enhanced my empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Resolving a diverse range of queries helped hone my analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Time management: Balancing calls, after-call work, and personal development activities taught me efficient time management.

For freshers considering voice process jobs, be prepared for a steep learning curve, but know that the skills you develop are transferable to multiple careers and add to your character in a tremendous way.

Culture at Concentrix

One aspect that stood out during my first year at Concentrix was its unique culture. From the outset, it was clear that Concentrix is not just a workplace but a community where values and support drive success and satisfaction.

  • Key Cultural Aspects: Diversity and inclusion: Working alongside colleagues from diverse backgrounds broadened my perspectives and made the workplace vibrant and inclusive.
  • Focus on employee wellbeing: Regular team-building activities, wellness programs, and counseling services showed the company's commitment to employee welfare.
  • Innovation encouragement: Concentrix actively sought ideas from employees from all levels, fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Career development paths: The company provided clear career progression roadmaps, motivating freshers like me to envision long-term growth within the organization.

For recent graduates looking for jobs after graduation, keep in mind—finding a company with a positive culture can significantly impact your professional growth and job satisfaction.

Career Progression: Opportunities Within Concentrix

One of the most encouraging aspects of my first year was witnessing the career progression opportunities within Concentrix. The company’s policies ensure there is room for growth and progression for each employee, regardless of their team or department. This was a huge motivating factor, especially for a fresher like me.

Progression Paths I Observed:

  • Lateral Movements: Opportunities to move to different accounts or processes based on performance and interest.
  • Vertical Growth: High-performing individuals were often fast-tracked to team leader or quality analyst roles.
  • Specialization: Options to specialize in areas like workforce management, training, or operations.

This clear path for growth is particularly appealing for those seeking fresher jobs in Bangalore, as it offers long-term career prospects beyond the initial role.

Work-Life Balance: The Reality of Voice Process Jobs

One of the biggest concerns for freshers considering voice process jobs is work-life balance. My experience at Concentrix showed that while the work can be demanding, maintaining a balance is possible with the right approach:

  • Shift Flexibility: At Concentrix, you have the option to select a shift that best suits your preferences. The company believes that employees perform best when they are comfortable with their shift schedules, allowing them ample time for personal matters and ensuring a better work-life balance. I chose the night shift as it gave me the flexibility to also pursue my other interests.
  • Time Off: Concentrix’s leave policies ensure you get a reasonable amount of leaves, ensuring a healthy balance of optimal performance at work and the opportunity to rest when you need a time-out.
  • Supportive Management: My team leaders and managers were very understanding and supportive, especially when it came to accommodating personal needs. Their leadership helped me manage my time well.

Conclusion: Reflecting on a Year of Growth

I hope this documentation of my journey has provided valuable insights into what it’s like to work at Concentrix. As a fresher entering the job market, the pressure to make the ‘right’ choice from the start can seem overwhelming. I experienced this firsthand during my job search after graduation. However, making that first move and embracing the opportunities that come your way can lead to a fulfilling career. Keeping in mind the supportive environment and growth potential Concentrix offers, I highly recommend choosing it to kickstart your professional journey.
